Ev mode issue
« on: July 23, 2018, 08:02:19 PM »
Hi there. I own Honda fit hybrid 2014 model (gp5). My car runs on EV mode until 20km/h after that it switches to engine and doesn't go into EV mode. Battery is fine and  is one bar less than full. Because the car does not use battery above 20km/h the fuel average is around 18 to 19 km/l. Can anyone suggest what's the issue and how to get over it. Thanks

I think your car is fine.

EV mode is used at low speed, as you noticed, and during acceleration to assist petrol engine for better performance.

Consumption of 18 km/l is what I would expect.

18km/l = 5.5l/100km = 51MPG

I seen the same models getting ev mode on when the car is in 60s or 70s km/h and getting 24 to 29 km/l. Where as im getting near 18.

I have a 2012 fit hybrid. The ev mode only kicks in at low speeds. I find that I can run the car on a flat surface at ~50k/h, release gas, then lightly press on gas to turn on ev mode. This will keep the car on ev, but the speed decreases until around 20k/h or so.

I suspect that this is normal operation for this vehicle.

Edit: yep this says so too https://evfleetworld.co.uk/in-detail-honda-integrated-motor-assist/
