Since having all my brakes renewed when I take my brakes off ie foot off pedal the whole car seems to ‘creak’ like an old ship what could this be??

Is it an internal creaking?
from pedal?
Or from the wheels?
My initial thoughts are the pads have been fitted dry.without coppa slip grease.
Try standing next to the wheel and a friend operating the brake.

Just ask the garage who did the work to check over your Jazz

If external creaking-i had same problem when all brakes replaced. When getting in and out of car can be creaking as you describe. This is caused and coming from rear brakes as explained by local independent who did MOT/Service. Find if you apply handbrake stronger than usual, maybe 1 or 2 more 'clicks' of handbrake, creaking doesn't occur!

My brakes 'creak' if moving very slowly, almost at a standstill, and the brakes are very lightly applied. They have always done that on three Jazz's that I have owned.

I'm finding the mk2 hard to brake smoothly in, just touch them and it feels like you've slammed them on, the mk1 needed you to actually squeeze them.

Are you sure it's the brakes and not your knees?? ;D ;D

I replaced all teh padslast year. I also lubricated all the bearing points and the slide pins.
Brakes now fra smoother, less grabby and the handbrake is superb..
Creaks and groans only when handbrake not fully on.

+1, yes I find the same thing,it puts me off the car.

My Mk 1 is the same. Usually they are fine. Sometimes I touch the brakes and it feels like an emergency stop (always at slow speed), other times the brakes don't feel they are working properly, so I press harder, and suddenly you are back into the emergency stop scenario. I wonder if it is the pad material. My pads were fitted to the car 30,000+ miles ago before I bought it. Could be any make. material or country of origin.

A few years ago I had to use a company people mover ( Ford Galaxy ) to pick up some stuff and if you put your foot anywhere near the brake pedal your head was on the way to the windscreen, they were real 'on or off' brakes and despite numerous trips to dealer they never got any better.. A thin layer of rust quickly takes hold on modern discs and that can cause initial bite, but after a few stops it is normally gone. The pads on family cars are formulated to work well from cold as well, unlike some aftermarket 'racing pads ' like EBC which may not grip very well until they have some heat in them.

I’m used to my mk3’s brakes now but when I test drove my first Jazz I nearly put the salesman through the windscreen when I first used them as Joko says they are worse at a slower speed
