How about a diesel Jazz from India?
http://www.hondacarindia.com/AllNewJazz/Jazz_Brochure.pdfThe VED changes effective 1st Aril 2017 are likely to make Honda think carefully about bringing a new Jazz hybrid to UK. I suspect the rumoured 3 cylinder turbo is more likely to show up, but there must be some doubt about that unless the new Jazz starts selling in sufficient numbers to justify broadening the range and a more efficient engine would need to compete with a slightly souped-up 1.5 litre version which would broaden the Jazz's appeal.
I will be very interested to see how closely my new SE CVT gets to my (soon to be ex-) hybrid's mpg under similar driving conditions. There won't be a battery adding to the weight and, instead, I will have somewhere to put the spare wheel. The official Extra Urban mpg is identical (64.2) for both the old hybrid and the SE although the HS wins on the Urban mpg (61.4 - not that I've ever got close). One factor in my reckoning is that, for reasons that have yet to be explained, the S CVT gets 68.9 mpg on the extra urban test. It's mechanically the same as the SE with the only difference being a few kg of equipment and different wheels (but the same size tyres). Either the S CVT was tested under optimal conditions or the SE CVT was tested under sub-optimal conditions.
However, a hydrid version of the new model would give better mpg if only because of improvements in engine technology although a higher capacity battery would also help (but push up the cost). I had expected the mpg margin between my HS hybrid and the ES I owned before it to be more than the 10% that I have achieved.
