Afternoon!
My Jazz has an Aux input, which works quite happily and a USB port (via the frankly bonkers proprietary connector) which can supposedly talk to an iPod/iPhone running iTunes, but not accept an audio stream from Spotify or what have you. I understand this is to do with the fact that the car can't access the audio subsystem on the phone because Reasons.
I've been digging around online, trying to work out how I can add Bluetooth capability (and hands-free as a bonus) to my MK2 2009 Jazz. Mostly that's involved:
* find the right words to inform future queries
* figure out what is and isn't possible
Looking in the service manual (
http://hondafitjazz.com/manual3/en/html_en/000000000000263.html#i000) it seems like the unit that controls the USB interface is a discrete box that bolts on to the back of the head unit (I haven't taken the thing out to check for myself).
From what I understand, the USB controller also allows you to control playback via the steering wheel (next/prev track). The volume controls are independent.
My question, getting finally to the point, is
can you replace the USB controller with something like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2008-2015-HONDA-JAZZ-MK3-BLUETOOTH-CONTROL-MODULE-39770-TF0-E020-M1-404-/203582525220 to add Bluetooth to the car or are there better
TM ways to do this?
I'm happy to have a go at installing a Bluetooth receiver behind the faceplate - I've read that there are kits to help you with this, but there don't seem to be many places in the UK that do them, and
I don't know the exact words to search for which is vexing.
Given where the Aux port is on the MK2 Jazz, having a dirty great cable sticking out of it is just _asking_ for someone to accidentally snap the connector, so I'd prefer a more discreet solution.
