« on: October 05, 2014, 08:42:51 AM »
Ok not wanting to sound like a total noob, I only just passed my driving test over a week ago and am totally new to owning and running a car.

What is the best oil to get for the Jazz?

Hi and welcome.
The oil question has been discussed a lot so if you just type "oil" in the search you will see all the threads.
Most important is a good quality oil and definitely changed at the required intervals, favourite grades tend to be 5w/30, 10w/40 and even 0w/30 although some feel this is too thin. The owners manual does not specify exactly one grade but a range.

In the UK the recommended grade is 0W/30 according to 'Castrol'

Honda signed deal with Castrol to supply Edge - H specifically for Honda engines.
Somehow they forgot to make one that fits the SAE/ACEA classifications called for in the owners manual - should be ACEA A1/B1,A3/B3 or A5/B5.
The label from the Castrol Edge H oil looks like this - as supplied from a Honda dealer - please see attachment.

Stick to a good supplier, and for the UK something that any of the above classifications and grades 0W-20, 0W-30, 5W-30. The lower he number the less viscous and therefore gives slightly better mpg.

Where can we get castrol edge h?

Halffords recommended their brand 10/40 fully synthetic

Honda guys are telling me either 0w20 0w30 as long as its Full synthetic.

I understand the lower the number the less viscous but what about the winter does it matter?

I wouldn't use the 10w 40 .  I don't think you will go wrong with 5w30 or 0w30. fully synthetic good brand. Any good oil will give the protection in the above.  A good filter and regular changes are the key.  Hondas engines are generally the least of your worries.
