Country of manufacture gd / ge

Hi all, can anyone advise country of manufacture for gd 2002-2008 and ge 2008 on. Were all the gds built in Japan and all ges built in Swindon ? Also on the ges what is there to look out for when buying secondhand.Assume the gearbox issues of gd are not an issue? Thanks

As far as I know the first gd's were built in Japan and in approx 2007-2008 they were built in China.

Have a look at the VIN number, if it starts with a 'J' then its made in Japan, 'S' means UK. Not sure about the letter for China.

'L' for China. I think some of the later GDs were also imported from Japan as well as China. I remember looking at some pre-registered 07 plate GDs and there were a mix of Japan/China manufactured cars depending on colour, Silver - China, Blue - Japan.

My 09 GE was made in Japan which is before production started at Swindon.

My 2009 EX was built in Japan, the 2010 EX built in Swindon. No complaints on either build quality.
