Dash cam causing alarm to go off Jazz Si (GE)
« on: January 25, 2024, 07:25:19 PM »
I’ve fitted a dash cam to my 2012 Jazz Si. It’s a Azdome M300S.
The alarm has been going off today, 2 days after installing it. It is connected using the supplied cable to the cigarette socket.
Unplugging it has stopped this from happening.
How do I resolve this? Will hard wiring stop it from happening? I presumed with the ignition off the camera wouldn’t be able to draw power.

You would need a hardwire kit with voltage protection. Most kits don't have voltage protection unless you have a dashcam with sensors that detect an incident whilst parked. Either motion sensor or g-sensor.

I don’t need the dash cam to be on in park mode literally only for when I’m driving. It’s currently plugged into the cigarette socket which I presumed wouldn’t drain the battery. It looks like I’ll have to give a hardwire kit a go and see if that helps.

The question is whether the aux socket is permanently powered or only when the ignition is on. They are usually only powered when the ignition key is turned to position 1 or 2 (aux or ignition), it's normally off when you turn off and remove the key. Sounds like yours might be permanently powered.
I'm guessing it's battery drain which is triggering the alarm.
