I forgot to mention......... when i drove the Crosstar the other day, I listened intently, with the window down, for the AVAS and it didn't make a sound. So much for the regs!

All the Hondas I have owned have been ultra quiet. I used to scare pedestrians weaving all over the place in Tesco car park, because they never heard me coming.

I can definitely hear mine, even with the windows up - it’s off when the car is stopped on the foot brake, starts when you take your foot off the brake and then shuts off around 17mph.

It’s sort of a humming/ahhhh sound.

Is that the sound I hear if the window is open as I pull away? It's a sort of musical note. I thought it was the sound of the motor/controller doing its thing.

Yes, I can clearly hear mine as well, although I’m not impressed with the actual sound.
As a retired engineer, to my ears, it sounds like something scraping along the ground!
I’ve even had people ask if there is something wrong with the car.
In my opinion it would be much better to have digital recording of something like a burbling 5L V8 engine, playing.
Maybe pedestrians et al, would move aside a bit quicker  :D

When I've been driving I've listened and listened but can't hear any adequate noise from my Crosstar when running slowly on battery. I'd like a steam loco sound which could change as the vehicle speeds up and start with the hissing noise when the cylinder drain cocks are opened. Visual effects would add further warning but people might think the car has a problem :o

I've just listened to the link posted by sportse and that sound is exactly what I can hear.

When I use my driveway it is stupid o'clock so very quiet outside and a brick wall both sides for the sound to bounce/echo off, plus I had my ears microsuctioned about a month ago :)

Yes, I could agree with that, as long as it’s GWR.  ;D

Ivor the Engine sound effects? And the horn is the par-par-pa-par-par whistle?
