Hi, I have recently bought my first Japanese car a Honda Jazz EX 2018. I am going to fit a full size alloy spare. My questions are should I fit a TPMS sensor or will this upset the TPMS system? Is the system geared to looking for 4 sensors only? If I fit a spare with a sensor, will the system still be locked onto the flat tyre/wheel in the boot? Should I not fit a sensor and relace it when the flat is repaired? This would mean you could not rotate the wheels for even wear. Maybe you should remove the spare with sensor from the car when you calibrate with the other 4 wheels?

unless Honda changed it recently the TPMS works off ABS wheel pulses, so no 'sensors' required

As culzean mentions, there are no sensors in each wheel for 2018 (Mk3) Jazz, it uses a Deflation Warning System (wheel speed sensor system) rather than TPMS with pressure sensors.

Pity you want a full size spare loonytunes as I have a space saver and boot insert that I bought for my 2015 ex. I kept it hoping that it would come in useful on the Crosstar but the PCD is different.
Never been used.

Whereabouts are you? I was considering buying one.

Thanks for all your quick replies. Tha makes it easier and cheaper. It also explains why tyre make, tread depth etc make a difference to the system.

Did I read somewhere on here that the 2018MY- (facelift) model no longer had room for a full size spare in the under boot cavity?

Mine has a full sized spare wheel. No problem!

It was 20YM that has the reduced sized wheel well due to an emissions regulation change.

Have a look at this thread ...

... (reply#5 onwards).
Not only do MY20 and later have no room for a full-size spare, even a space saver will create a lump in the boot floor. The obvious feature to check is whether any particular car has the socket in the centre of the sub-trunk to take the hold-down bolt.

Ah, 2020MY on lost the spare wheel room, thanks. Good to know :)

I thought it was due to a floorpan change in preparation for the hybrid battery system? I may well be wrong on that.
-
Don't forget the 20YM is a MK3. The first MK4 is 21YM.

What does the YM mean?

What does the YM mean?
Year Model or some others use MY = Model Year

MY = Model Year
So MY22 is a car designed for the 2022 market. They often appear in dealers half way through the previous year, just like magazine issues appear in newsagents a month or two ahead of their cover date.
