no plate lights

hi all
should the no plate lights just 'click' into place if slid across when fitting?
both mine at the moment are loose and I'm wondering if any locating lugs or clips have broken off making them loose.
thanks in advance

On the translucent bit of plastic there should be two square shaped prongs that stick out either side of the light fitting when in place
I've ended up breaking my right one and its wedged in at the moment which isn't ideal but its not loose
