Automatic Gear instrument indicator panel Honda Jazz Auto
« on: May 03, 2015, 08:09:49 AM »
Greetings, the D indicator on the automatic gear indicator panel has started flashing. It flashes irrespective of which gear is engaged. Anyone experienced this before and know of a fix? The gearbox is running normally.

Regards

The indicator on the dashboard, or by the gear lever? What does the other one do?

Hi Ozzie, the flashing green is on the dash display in the D selection but flashes the D on all selections, Nothing happens on the selector level.

Cheers

I'm no auto electrician, but I am thinking the led is on the way out, maybe a dry solder joint. I don't think theres much you can about it without taking the dashboard out. If it was the one at selector level it would be easier to access. I would leave it personally.

Is it a regular flash or random? if it's random then it may be a connection or other electrical issue, if it's regular it's more likely that it's some sort of warning indication.
I would mention it to your Honda dealers service people, hopefully they'll be as helpful as my local dealership is.

The computer will have recorded a fault code, so you'll need to find out what the code is to determine the fault. Could be something simple, but that's all speculation if you don't know the error/fault code is.

Hi All Contributors, thanks for the input .
Did a fault code check and find PO843 Transmission fluid pressure sensor/switch A Circuit High.
Anyone know the location of this switch and is it a simple job to replace it?
Car still running OK but I should do something to sort it out.

Cheers and thanks again

Here's the DTC troubleshooter page for the Jazz GE8 model:

Point 26 looks interesting regards wiring connections.

Switch thingy appears to be under air filter housing in you can make sense of that diagram  :-\

Thanks all for the inputs.
My 2010 Auto is not a CVT but a conventional automatic and on removing the air filter does not look like the sketches shown.
Does anyone know of literature relevant to a non CVT auto.?

Regards
Roland

but a conventional automatic

Thanks for the update.

It's not a "conventional" automatic by a long stretch. You must have an i-Shift then. That is internally like a manual gearbox which has a automatic shifter system stuck on it and computer that controls the clutch. A "conventional" automatic or shall we say "traditional" automatic is has a load of epicyclic gearsets and brake bands in it like a Borg Warner 35 box and a big torque converter between it and the engine.

But I take all that back if you have actually have a conventional auto, but I've no idea what market you car was built for. As you can see we're blinding fumbling around here and we're not mind readers.

Perhaps you could alter your profile to include what car you have. (Go to "Profile" choose "Forum Profile" and add what Jazz you have down at the bottom of that page, then it'll appear on the right-hand side of any post by yourself.) Maybe even add your car's intended market.

I'll have a dig around and see if I can see any other info.
