The most pointless feature of a Honda Jazz
« on: December 09, 2014, 10:25:32 AM »
Well after 3 months of ownership I have found the most useless, stupid, distracting and generally annoying feature of my Jazz. Can anyone guess what it is?

The ECO display on my instrument panel. What is the point of it other than to you annoy with its blink on, then off???

Foot on accelerator (No ECO)
Foot off accelerator (ECO)
Braking (ECO)
Driving at a constant 70 mph on motorway on the flat or slight decline (ECO)
Driving at 20 mph in low gear (ECO)

Seriously?

I have now taped the damn thing over with matt black tape....and I will never see ECO again!!

Anybody else find ECO annoying?

I don't have an Eco light in mione, 2010 Ex. But the most useless thing in mine is this daft sun roof. If you open it you get heat stoke from the sun as no air comes in.

As I get best mpg when ECO is green, I find it very useful.

I find it very useful.

Same here, I suppose it depends on peoples driving style but I also find it helps to give good fuel economy.

I like the Eco light it feature reminds you if you have a heavy right foot and helps with getting best economy. This is not a one for BMW or Audi drivers.

I find all the beeps pointless. Never needed them before - keys in ignition, seat belts and so on.

I find having 10 odd shaped cup holders pointless. Never need them.

I find the amber background for the clock pointless. Wrong place and unreadable.

I find the tyre sizes pointless. Why bother?

I find the tyre repair kit pointless. Thrown out.

The non adjustable arm rest is close to pointless.

The silly plastic dipstick for the screen wash bottle is pointless. I now use the old Honda system of a piece of airline with my finger over the end.

I find the eco light pointless and a distraction. I can tell when the engine is running at it's optimum.

I could go on.................

The car is well designed but some of the engine component access is cramped.  The spark plugs are well hidden away.

The endless beeps when a key is inserted with the door open gets on my nerves.  I like to listen to the radio and have the door open on a hot day

What if you would open all the windows and close the door? Fresh air! No beeps! Just music! Problem solved...!!!  8)

This seems to me to be an offensive and pointless comment.

I would like to think I am just as free to give my thoughts on the subject as you are, of course.

The subject is: "The most pointless feature of a Honda Jazz".

I think there are several equally pointless features.

I have owned Honda cars since 1979 (several of which I have owned for 10 years or more). I recognise Honda's very high engineering skills.

All motor manufacturers get carried away with what I, personally, consider to be pointless features which, to me, add little benefit and often real nuisance and even danger. I appreciate others may enjoy/ need them.

I tend to know if the car door is open, the keys are in the lock, whether I have my seatbelt attached, how I am working the engine.

I do seriously question whether anyone without this basic awareness should be driving.

Some features on cars, I think, can probably be positively dangerous - particularly the Eco light which is a real distraction. Please, eyes should be on the road not on the fuel tank.

I selected this Jazz very carefully on specific and demanding criteria against offerings of half a dozen other manufacturers' cars in the same category.

The Honda Jazz matches my needs extremely well despite the many features which I find completely and utterly pointless (frankly, sometimes very annoying and, even, potentially hazardous) but which other people may find very attractive to their needs. Life is full of compromises.

The answer to your query is No.
