was i imagining a temp gauge
« on: July 21, 2021, 06:43:58 PM »
when i was looking for a jazz i thought when looking at  sellers pics some mk1's had a engine temp gauge? maybe i was imaging it in hope.. my new one like many hasn't so take it . its just a help me its to late warning light... if some models do . would a straight change work.. some cars have generic wiring behind the pods so extra features can work.

I believe some Mk1's had an Outside Temperature Gauge, but not a coolant temperature gauge.
My ScanGauge E gives me coolant temperature and intake air temperature via the OBD2 port.

Yes, our 2005 SE has an outside temperature gauge but not one for coolant.

yes i do think this ones got an outside temp . within the fuel gauge . the kia i recently had was a warning light .. but the kia died . well 2008 picanto .. just flew through its mot . next day just wouldnt start .. reader said c.p.s i put a new one on .. damn things behind the timing cover.. started straight away .i rang my garage to get them to take off the stored engine light .. damn thing wouldnt start again .. anyway  it was to small and a temprary car so its on e bay as is. hence im purchasing my jazz . picking it up tomorrow... oh the garage towed the picanto in .. put another crank sensor on in case the first one was faulty.. but now itl start sometimes revs up then on tickover it dies after 30seconds then a pig to start.. but  thats it. it can go ..looking forward to seeing how my jazz drives..  oh p.s im guessing the gear range is about 50/50 in 5th gear? in other words at 70mph the revs are 35000?

Yes it's next to the odometer.

Yes, our 2005 SE has an outside temperature gauge but not one for coolant.

the Jazz does not have engine coolant temperature  gauge, only lights as  indicators for low coolant temperature, high coolant temperature, overheated coolant temperature.
For the last two, the indicator will blink to warn the driver to take action for high coolant temperature, which is keep going at reduced speed or load, if the same indicator stops blinking and is solid,  the driver should pull off the roadas the  coolant temperature is at critical limit
You can have a temperature gauge displayed on a phone or tablet  if you buy a £10 ELM327 Bluetooth adaptor to plug into the OBD2 plug, and have the Torquelite app on a Android phone or tablet device

I monitor my coolant temperature when stuck in traffic in this current spell of temperature. Amazing how a tiny amount of forward movement brings the temperature down.
