Under the bonnet. Question
« on: July 16, 2021, 07:40:51 PM »
I lifted the bonnet to familiarise myself with oil, water, screen wash etc. I noticed this electrical connector which to me looks like it is missing a cover. It is located near the radiator fan.

Can any forum member confirm this is normal? Couple of photos attached.

Thx

My Jazz EX looks same as yours.
Noticed similar connection arrangement to the Keinin box near to bonnet hinge on UK driver’s side. Be interesting to know if this is the norm and, if so, if it will potentially cause issues in future.

Without stating the flipping obvious, those connectors look just a tad exposed.
Over years of use, they're not going to look any better are they?

Thanks for the reply and the photo so looks like it is designed that way. This is my first Honda and I was partly attracted by their engineering and reliability record. One has to assume they know what they are doing but this exposed connector does not inspire confidence!

How low down is that.

Would it short circuit in deep water if you get caught out.
Let's be careful out there !

No, but as per recent downpours and floods you could accidentally drive through water that's deeper than you think that may cover that connector, hence - how low down is it.
Let's be careful out there !

Has anyone figured out the name and purpose of the connector? What is it for? Is it live or dead for voltage? Or simply part of a a universal wiring loom for an accessory or component6  not fitted to UK cars?

That connectors are OK, if you look closer, you'll notice that there is a sort of rubber in the back part of every wire and empty contact, that is what makes the sealing against water and dust.
Mine is the same as yours anyway.
