Title: How I clean my jazzy rubber floor mats
Post by: guest5177 on April 08, 2015, 09:44:13 PM
Hi!

How do you clean your rubber mats? I'm curious what products you use and which ones are worth recommending  :D

Here's the way I do it!

Here are my dirty floor mats

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01261_zpsfvuosxyg.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01261_zpsfvuosxyg.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01262_zpsgd8ijdqm.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01262_zpsgd8ijdqm.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01263_zpst328mzmv.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01263_zpst328mzmv.jpg.html)

Firstly, I just rinse them with water

When they become dry, they don’t really look as anything special has happened to them :)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01265_zpsdymcsqdp.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01265_zpsdymcsqdp.jpg.html)

Then I use All Purpose Cleaner - here it is Shiny Garage Red Devil

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01269_zpsnse9lmsk.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01269_zpsnse9lmsk.jpg.html)

I spray it all over the mats

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01271_zpseufy324l.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01271_zpseufy324l.jpg.html)

..and spread it with a brush

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01272_zpsjixatjkq.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01272_zpsjixatjkq.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01274_zpsffjfyuyc.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01274_zpsffjfyuyc.jpg.html)

After that, I rinse the mats with clean water

That’s how much dirt was still on them

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01275_zpsjwh0wimb.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01275_zpsjwh0wimb.jpg.html)

..so I use little APC once again– just to make sure that I get rid of all the dirt

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01278_zpshgslpsdd.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01278_zpshgslpsdd.jpg.html)

I dry the mats with a microfiber cloth

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01280_zpsqgjdzhjz.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01280_zpsqgjdzhjz.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01284_zpsywizly32.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01284_zpsywizly32.jpg.html)

Then I apply Nielsen Choice ..

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01286_zpsyzpdrp7p.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01286_zpsyzpdrp7p.jpg.html)

..that definitely enhances the black colour of my mats

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01287_zps2ibdgcrj.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01287_zps2ibdgcrj.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01289_zpsjtqp2qfu.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01289_zpsjtqp2qfu.jpg.html)

At the same time it provides a high gloss

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01290_zpsvjpqvlmi.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01290_zpsvjpqvlmi.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01292_zpsoyblp64h.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01292_zpsoyblp64h.jpg.html)

(http://i1279.photobucket.com/albums/y522/maciek89/DSC01293_zps6pqzyil2.jpg) (http://s1279.photobucket.com/user/maciek89/media/DSC01293_zps6pqzyil2.jpg.html)

Done!

And after 5 minutes use, they will be dirty again  - if raining...

I just wash them with water. Period..

i know its a little off topic
we have deep pile carpet mats and kath goes to the beach and the park with our dog
the amount of dirt and sand that gets into the fibre is unreal
so i hang them on our wheelie bin and pressure wash them
you want to see the dirt that comes out yuk,you know when they are dry that they
have been cleaned deep down
to aid the drying i squeegy the mats down to remove as much water as possible.

what you’re saying is that my work doesn’t make any sense  :(
Well, maybe you’re right to some extent. Floor mats just easily get dirty – that comes from their use  :)
But thinking this way, why do we bother to clean the car at all? Even if it doesn’t rain, it will get dirty after a few days.
Fortunately, it doesn’t rain so much in Poland (as in Britain)  ;)

Mine doesn't say Jazz on ? But came from Honda Garage

I bought these mats separately– I didn’t have them originally in my car.  So that’s possible. I really like them – not even for this Jazz on – just for their quality :)

Iines, you have too much time on your hands  ;)

Believe me I don’t have too much time :) If I had time, I’d probably present how I clean the interior of my jazz  ;D (btw it would last forever). I just love caring for my car and testing some new products. Don’t think that I clean my mats every week :) To be precise – I do it every two weeks  ;) It takes me about  20 minutes.

Thanks!
That’s uplifting. Yes, I’m definitely a detail enthusiast (hoped not to be the only one in this forum )

Thanks God I don’t have a dog!
Once I was fighting with dog’s hair in my collegue’s boot – that was horrible! The only thing that worked was .. sticking tape. I’ve heard that rubber gloves can be effective – but I haven’t had a chance to practise that yet.

Mats in my cars get hoovered twice a year normally if i remember to do it (just to get rid of loose gravel etc) - Oh and may also get done if I have to pick the Queen up from Windsor or Sandringham.   Oil and other important stuff gets checked and changed much more often  :D

I must be subconsciously psychic because, every single time, 1 or 2 days after hoovering mine my daughter gets in with a friend with shoes on that look like they've been mucking out the elephant house at the zoo.  :o

Speaking of detailing I think am more OCD but I love the smell and how new the car feels! I love my jazz and vax cleaner as well hehe I using carpet shampoo and fabric softer mixed together and literally soak every fabric inside the car including the roof and do this 3 Times a year though the summer and never need air fresher in the car haha the only down side I need to wash the Windows after ive vaxed but the water in the dirty water tank is black and makes you think why have a clean house if you site in dirty car haha
