I don't understand why people mock Internet Explorer, I mean it just works and that's good enough for me!

Anti-Microsoft brigrade again! ::)

IE is a pile of old pish. Yes it 'works' to most people, but IE is notoriously non-compliant with the standards. I won't go into the technical details, but web sites are often designed to work in standards-compliant browsers like Firefox, then 'tweaked' to get round IE's bugs. To be fair, IE7 is much better than older IE's, but it's not perfect. Sadly, Microsoft notoriously ignores standards it never laid down in the first place.

Maybe, but Microsoft suceed because the products work and the marketing is spot-on. These days, employers don't want skills in wordproccessing or spreadsheets from employees, they want Word and Excel skills because these packages are the standard.

I'm not a computer geek, just a guy who wants to get things done.

Bill Gates frankly gets a lot of flack. The guy donates big time to charity causes and yet gets demonised as if he's Gordon Gecko! If people want a corporate numbskull to have a pop at, take aim at GM Chairman Bob Lutz, who claimed (amusingly) that global warming is a "a crock of sh*t."

I use Opera 9 after trying it alongside FF, IE. It work's best for me and that's it, no politics involved.

I know several people who swear by Microsoft products...and some who swear at them!

 ;D

Another classic remark from everyone's favourite redneck auto boss...a man who doesn't do compromises.

No wonder GM is the poo, saddled with thirsty SUV's and pick-up's that nobody wants, huge over capacity and crippling workforce medical bills.

Don't forget ActiveX employed by IE (only) increases infiltration risk to your pc from webpages! (-ActiveX is not sandboxed)

What's marketing got to do with it? Microsoft succeeds because it's engineered a virtual monopoly situation. That doesn't mean that their products are good or desirable.

Microsoft produces the equivalent of a flashy car with dodgy innards. Engineers hate working on them, they use unusual bolt threads, have poor handling and reliability, but the people keep buying them anyway.

Some of us have bucked the trend and bought a Honda...

Chrome for a few months now.  Its very quick and if a webpage crashes the browser you only have to close the tab!
