I've found the Garmin instructions for FAT32 and default allocation units, with the second to be critical

I forgot to use default allocation units once and the car rejected the stick
Let's be careful out there !

..No joy for me this time. Same SD card, same procedure. Car stops at 1% and says its failed, cancel / retry.

Last two updates were fine.

Noticed that Garmin also has a video that shows how to update the map :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgLTD36cnvg

My Jazz Crosstar bought in 2023 still has 2021 maps. Once the map showed that I'm driving in forest, when it didn't know a recently built road. I guess it's time to try updating the map. Garmin provides free map updates for 5 years (so until 2028 for me).

I wonder if the fact that the MyMaps screen shows all map versions, whether it's building up and there's not enough room for the latest ?

I don't think there is

On the Garmin standalones they fully remove the previous map files and replace them

I suppose a dealer may be able to check the capacity, 9r there may be a way of looking in the engineering menu

Thinking back though, I think I had that 1% once but after reformatting and re-downloading it was fine. I've always ignored the Garmin Express message about 'we've got it from here' and wiggled the mouse every so often to stop any screen saver kicking in as that can interrupt it.

...Might take a look.
Car is in for 2nd service and camera recall today so will check later.

Screensaver and power options altered whilst downloading. May try again if car is still working when it returns  :o ;D

So for the third time of trying (following all the correct procedures) Garmin Express tells me that my maps are up to date but my Crosstar insists they need updating. Versions installed seemed to be 2020.10 even though I did successfully update the maps last year.  Ideas please as to how I can get this resolved?

Have you got a picture of the headunit MyMaps screen

If you scroll through this post you will see what I'm showing, which shows the latest 2023.10 in amongst earlier versions 2021 and 2022

As part of the annual service, I have the option of a map update but at a cost of £40. Probably not worth it every year as I know most of the roads I use locally.

I really don't understand.
Our dealer updated our maps at the first and second annual maintenance for exactly PLN 0.00 = £0.00
It is also clearly stated here that the updates are free for 5 (five) years.
If nothing goes right, go left!
