HI does any one know if you can fit soundproofing material under the carpet on a mk 4 jazz ex.
Many thanks.

Very difficult as the carpet goes under all the trim.
Let's be careful out there !

Why?

Maybe Travis found this on his side windows?

This will be a lot easier than taking all the carpet out. Moreover probably also much more effective:

There are basically 2 options for sound proofing: adding absorption material anywhere you like, as this enhances reverberation and lowers the sound level. However, option 2 is much more effective: finding the source of the sound and adding mass and/or absorption locally.
It can be difficult to locate it, since there are so many circumstances and you cannot place your ears or a microphone near all surfaces while driving.

That said: I saw a YouTube video once where someone completely stripped his car for it. This will give you the best result, but whether it will be 2 or maybe 4 dB I don’t know.

Why?
Because there is a lot of road noise and tyre noise, and the so called carpet that they fit in the jazz is next to useless.

Not sure what level of carpeting you expect on a reasonably priced car. The carpets and sound insulation on my Range Rover Velar are superior to our Jazz but as it cost £ 50k more it should be.

For a good insulation you have to tear down the car. Like that dude on instagram.
But it's risky. Too many screws, plastic connections etc. Maybe you will get rid of road sound but you will have annoying trim sound very soon.

And I believe Jazz Mk4 is very quiet cars. After our Seat leon & arona experienced

You must have acute super extra sensory hearing if you are contemplating extra sound proofing! I found the Jazz to be quiet and road noise minimal, certainly no worse than all the Renaults I owned previously. Having also travelled regularly in a friends Merc CL, I would have been upset about the road noise he experiences considering the cost he paid.

I found the e:HEV HR-V very noisy, one reason I got rid of it and went to CR-V e:HEV, much quieter.
I think the problem is that the Japanese roads are far better than those in the u.K. (couldn't be much worse! :'()
Therefore they don't need it and don't consider other markets.

I cannot understand why so many negative responses to a simple query.

If someone finds the car noisy then be positive and help or say nothing!!

I think I must be driving a very different MK4 Ex e-HEV to some of our members.
This car is without doubt the quietest of the 5 Jazz cars that I have owned.
Yes, you can hear the engine, when pushed hard, but only because it is so quiet otherwise and certainly no more than any similar car of this class, ( or indeed any manual car, when driven in the same manner)

...Well I would think that if the noise levels were that intrusive, as would've been discovered on the test drive/s, then most people wouldn't have bought the car  ???
Not decide to buy it then rip it apart to put some soundproofing in ?  ::)
