Title: How often do you clean your car?
Post by: peteo48 on October 04, 2021, 05:40:29 PM
I recently read an article by a car leasing company written during the first lockdown. It seems people do not clean their cars that often (either by hand, car wash or pop up hand car wash). Only 3% polled wash their cars weekly and only 4% fortnightly. Big jump to monthly where 19% give the car a clean. Every 2 to 3 months seemed the most popular and 6% never cleaned their cars.

Are Jazz owners more fastidious than this?

Windows? Whenever dirty.
Car?
Summer - every 4-6 weeks or when filthy form mud on single track roads.
Winter every 2-3 weeks if bad weather.

Lots of tractors/horse excrement/mud on local roads.

14 votes a small sample but the cluster around 1 month and 2 to 3 months seems in line with the car leasing company's survey.

When I have the time, I like to wash my car once a week. It is a process that I actualy enjoy and find relaxing to do. Sadly, it can go upto a month between washes, but at least I can then really tell the difference between clean and dirty!  ;D

It amazes me that people spend so much money on their motors, and can't be bothered to clean them? Bonkers.

So far I've only dusted mine.

I'm in a fortunate position that if the weather isn't to my liking I don't need to use it. It's in a heated and dehumidified garage and under a protective cover.

That's probably how my Civic stayed in showroom condition.

When I do wash it I'll spend about 4 or 5 hours, outside and in.

I would love your garage...... my Jazz doesn't even fit in my garage! My 2CV used to though, and it fits my motorbike easily enough.

Cleaning wise, I say it'll be a quick wash, but I usualy spend at least an hour or so. A proper clean will take easily 2hrs+.

About every month or so for me, if I have the time. It got a full wash and wax this morning even though it rained immediately afterwards. It was the first time it had been waxed. Even though the shampoo I've been using said it was "Wash and wax" it doesn't actually do any waxing, just prepares it for waxing.

... New car so going to be trying keep it
cleanish, especially as it's white. A quick wipe down every few days and a wash at the weekend. Until the novelty wears off that is  ;D
