Jazz reflections of a newbie
« on: March 29, 2009, 07:45:54 AM »
Just come across this site.
We have a 2005 1.4SE Auto and done 38000 miles at 44.8 mpg. My wife is the main driver - we use it for most of our journeys together. Until recently I used a Ford Escort for travelling on my own and all the dirty jobs like tip visits - about 2000 a year. I recently bought a new Lexus. We will use this for longer journeys and travel so the Jazz will be used by my wife and us for joint short trips.
Without doubt, the Jazz has been the most delightful car we have owned - and that includes Accords which I had before I retired. It is a delight to drive, reliable, and the inside offers so much flexibility. It does have it's drawbacks - the rear passengers do not get a comfortable ride. But this rarely matters for us.
Now I'm enjoying the luxury of the Lexus I have been encouraging my wife to look at a small family car up to around £20,000-£25,000 Each suggestion has had short shrift - including small Mercs, BMW and Audi. She did decide to do a test drive in the new Golf - amazing power from a 1.4 auto!
She does not like the design of the new Jazz. I recently had a full valet and our old Jazz looks like new. So now it's seen off several posh marks. Only the Golf has aroused any enthusiasm. But as soon as she was back in the Jazz there has been no more talk of replacement.
I'm going to buy a bigger trailer and do my best to protect the Jazz for a little longer! What a car!
