This was the view from my dashcam just to the left of the interior mirror.

No obstructions on the GD, the camera blob on the GK is enormous

Yes, but the camera angle is so wide you can happily go to the side of the blob. My camera in these shots is well to the left of the mirror so I could see the GPS speed on the screen.

Maybe I’m being a bit thick, but what is GD and GK?

Thanks for sharing the screenshots - they all look pretty neat & give me a better idea what to do.

The camera is primarily for safety, but I am looking forward to capturing some great scenery - trips planned to Peak District and South Coast.

Has anyone captured any particularly fancy/scenic videos?

IIRC

GD is the MK1 Jazz

GK is the MK2 Jazz

GR is the latest MK4

I must admit I get similarly confused when Civic owners quote FK2 FN2 etc. They mean nothing to me, but when they quote Civic MK8, 9, 10 or 11 I know exactly which model year they are posting about.

Let's be careful out there !

Nope. My Mk3 has a GK VIN number.

I looked up the GK and the first hit I got was 2014-2017 so knowing the MK4 was 2020 I guessed wrong.

I suppose that backs up my preference to use the MK numbers
Let's be careful out there !

Not sure, just a guess,  but the code quite possibly refers to the "platform " version,  I.e. the floorpan. Late mk.3 models had floorpan mods in the boot spare wheel well area in preparation for the mk.4 battery. Could it be this which changed the code?

Original Honda City is often called the Mk1 but most refer to the GD as the Mk1.

GD 2002 - 2008
GE 2009 - 2013
GK 2014 - 2019
GR 2020>

Obviously there will be crossover years by registration but the above represents the models production years.

I have always put dashcam more to passenger side, as I find the screen / flashing lights etc. Distracting.

Kind of hidden from driving view by rear view mirror.
