What high mileage problems can I expect?
« on: January 06, 2024, 01:39:30 PM »
My 2016 Mk3 Jazz has 91,000 on the clock and going well. But at coming up for 8years I am thinking about replacing it, but would be interested in hearing what problems have arisen over 100,000 miles.

Thanks for any inputs.

I would say, It's Honda, so very likely nothing else than normal wear parts. If you can keep the rust out.

Mileage is nothing to gauge a car by if it has been looked after with servicing to schedule. My MK2 runs as well with 130k on the clock as it did with 82k when I bought it. It had a full Honda history, one owner and has had lots of regular servicing since.

There used to be a member on here that had a Jazz mk2 with >200k on the clock and still running well iirc.

I think mileage is still a hang up for folk from the days of cars in the 70's or earlier when 100k was a major milestone. Keep up with the care for your car, and it will still be going strong in another 100k miles. It's a Honda!  :D

Thank you @Westy36. Very useful. I am obsesssive about servicing and have full Honda service history from new. I am sole owner. So will postpone thoughts of changing it for now.

You have a good spec Jazz with known history. I would keep it and enjoy.
If your keen on Honda wait untill they are fitted with the  non lithium battery 4/5 yes off. Or join me in developing Jazz with motor bike engine 1-1.5l petrol linked to 6 speed box .

My 2006 jazz had 150,000 miles on it when I upgraded.

Only problem it had after 100k was the alternator belt replacement, lower wishbone rubber had failed. 2tyres and about 2 cheapo exhaust back box.

Honestly Mike, mileage is just a number. Sure, some things will wear out, consumables and such. But so much cheaper to repair than replace.

From what I understand, rust has been the primary cause of Honda Jazz demise beyond anything else. Given the age of your car, you've many years left.

MOT time for my Jazz in the next month. Be interesting to see what comes up after another 12k of use.
