New Jazz Owner
« on: March 03, 2023, 12:46:52 PM »
Hi All, new Jazz owner here - a 60/2011 1.4 EX - bought for my wife to replace her 21 year old Suzuki Swift GLS.
It's in pretty good order, but, one of the remotes doesn't work (the red LED doesn't light either, so a fault within the unit).
I've taken it apart, battery showing 3V, all contacts cleaned - still nothing.
Any tips? Can I buy a new remote unit and program it to the car?
Thanks :)

I know its a long shot but are you sure its the correct size battery?    cr2016 , cr2025 and cr2032 are all 3v and the same diameter (20 mm I think)  The difference is their thickness.

I did once get a small remote control  (for a trail camera)  working by fitting  the next size up from what it was designed for.  The extra thickness made better electrical contact with the terminals.  The larger size may not fit in your device,  but the next size down   may look ok but is too thin.
A different brand of the correct size might have a slightly thicker manufacturing tolerance and work.

The correct battery for the key fob is CR1616.

Ah, not familiar with those . I think they may have a similar alternative size /thickness hierarchy but I doubt many folk will have a variety of sizes available at home for experimentation.  My cunning plan was a long shot.

But it might still be worth trying a new cr1616  of another make.

CR1616 is often not in these multipacks. Check before buying.
