What to do with your car standing idle
« on: April 28, 2020, 08:51:03 AM »
Obviously there's been quite a few flat batteries with more cars standing idle. It occurred to me yesterday it's important to run the aircon once a week so that the seals get lubricated. I wondered if there's anything else to look out for?
All suggestions gratefully received.

Just move the car slightly so that the same bits of the tyres are not contacting the ground.
There is nothing to stop you going for a 15-minute drive, having a half-hour walk then driving home again. That's within the rules.
I am very lucky in that my car gets a 50+ mile drive each day, Monday to Friday, though that will all stop next week once my wife completes her radiotherapy.

Yes - a good point. The focus is on batteries but aircon must be an issue. I "bend" the rules a bit by going the long way round to the chemist or the supermarket and have the aircon on all the time for now.
