Sorry for the outage.
According to the web host the site was slowing down the server (we're on a shared host) so it was taken offline.
The problem possibly was down to a modifcation to the file that allows forum content to be displayed on the homepage. The problem also affected the test site on my laptop so I removed the modifcation and the problem appears (fingers crossed
) to be solved. Because I couldn't even access the files on the server I had to ask the web host technicans to remove the offending file.
The only issue now is the homepage is displaying the 'alternative' content (and not the latest posts, etc) which will remain so for the moment.
