Looks like my 'new' 2013 jazz will be going back to garage tomorrow, just noticed the running lights don't work.

If you mean day time running lights I don’t think they were fitted until the mk3

theres a half on mode on the headlights that light the top bit, works fine on my mk1.
*It seems they're called position lights*

Highway code calls them sidelights ( rule 113 ) .... good enough for me, I always called them sidelights ! Logically if they were called parking lights the headlights would be called driving lights....

Back in the 60's parking lights were clip on devices that you hung on the driver's window.

If you left your car parked overnight, with the sidelights on (and it was a legal requirement to do so, even in lit streets), your battery would probably be flat in the morning.

It was only later that the circuits were organised so you could leave the indicator in the offside position and the front and rear sidelights would illuminate.

According to the Vehicle Lighting Regulations (1989) their official title is now "Position Lights" so the Honda manual uses the official parlance.

I used to modify the clip on parking lights with a photo detector to turn them off and on to save car battery - made them for whole family and other various friends and relations...

How sad is it that I still remember the light dependent resistor I used,  and you can still buy them... https://mindsetsonline.co.uk/shop/orp12-light-dependent-resistor/

You could get DRLs as a dealer fit accessory towards the end of the MK1's life.
