Personally I’d use my VAX carpet cleaner using the VAX cleaner and the hose attachment then vacuuming it up, I’d go over it a couple of times
If you don’t have a carpet cleaner you can hire a Rug Doctor, or similar, as long as it’s got the smaller hose & attachment’s. These can be hired for not too much money from a lot of supermarkets etc
The only proper way to remove it is with a good quality carpet/upholstery wet vacuum. It might seem expensive but in the long run it will save you a lot of headaches
