Window open, battery empty, window no longer moves
« on: November 26, 2024, 11:46:30 AM »
Hello,

It's about a Honda Jazz 2 from 2003

In the morning - in the thickest snowfall - the driver's window was down. Of course, I first thought it was a break-in. But nothing was missing.
I couldn't start it, the battery was empty.
After bridging the car, it started again perfectly but the window regulator didn't respond.
I removed the side panel to push the window up manually.
Unfortunately, the mechanism got blocked and I had to completely unscrew the window from the mechanism to push it up and clamp/glue it in place. It is winter, after all.

Does anyone know the problem? Is it the window regulator itself or something with the electronics?

Many thanks :)

Nicole

This happened to ours one night when it was raining .... found the driver's window completely open.
It's a pretty easy fix. Remove the trim from the window switch module on the driver's door and remove the circuit board containing various soldered  relays.
Inspect for corrosion, clean, dry out, try and get some contact cleaner into the relay contacts etc etc. Apply a thing smear of vaseline or similar to the board, then replace and try again.
Pretty sure there was a recall for this fault at one point as water somehow gets down onto that circuit board and causes the problems.
It didn't flatten our battery though ....
