Temporary scratch protection from rust
« on: September 17, 2024, 08:48:54 AM »
Hi, yesterday I scratched my Honda Jazz while on vacation. Pretty much new driver so not sure about next steps. Planning to go to the dealership in like 10 days but now I'm worried if rust or something will start to form. Should I apply something to scratches in meanwhile? It's wet were I'm right now. Any advice would be welcome.

Difficult to say from photos but the scuffs dont seem to have  gone right through to bare metal so there is still rust protection from primer coats.   But even if there is a bit of rusting   its only likely to be superficial so wouldnt be  a problem unless the car is not repaired for months or years.

There are two possible ways the damage will be repaired.  They May  remove all the paint back to bare shiny  metal  and then hammer, or pull out, the worst of the damage and finish it off with body filler and a respray. So any rusting will have been removed

Or they will remove the damaged panels completely and replace them  with  new ones  - so any rusting to the old panel is irrelevant.

They may do both. Replace the door panel  , but repair the damage to the sill under the door
