Cheshire Oaks Honda adds MG!

Don't know if this already happens elsewhere, but a little gobsmacked to get an email today saying Cheshire Oaks will be selling MG alongside Honda!   MG!!

It's a common dilemma, when you can't make up your mind between a beautifully crafted Honda or a chinese MG, we've all been there.

I find it astonishing, but telling, that Honda have allowed this.

I've long wondered how Cheshire Oaks covered its costs on Honda business - the place is always deserted.  I guess I have my answer now.

For Holdcroft, MG seems like the franchise dealer groups take when they can't attract anyone else.

It's getting more common. Our local Mitsubishi dealer sells MGs now. Across the road, a firm call Bentleys have a Toyota franchise and a Citroen franchise literally next door to each other.

Just wondering if some of these firms want to get on board the EV bandwagon? Honda only have an 80 mile EV so adding MG with EVs capable of over 200 miles might make sense.

Hendy in Crawley dropped Mazda and added MG alongside its Ford showroom.
Hendy Ford in Tonbridge have now also taken on Honda.
Yeomans Peugeot in Eastbourne took on Honda (but still trading the Honda side under the Collins Honda name).

With Mitsubishi exiting the market I think some more dealers will be looking to take on MG (or SSangyong, which maybe a better fit with the Mitsubishi customer base).

Cheshire Oaks is run by Holdcroft as is Warrington Honda who already sell MG alongside the Honda Franchise so mn surprise really.

North Wales Honda now have a Kia franchise and the two will be together at a new build site in Llandudno down the road from Asda (Albion Street)

PS : Llandudno is the Honda Jazz capital of Wales so plenty to keep the dealership occupied!

I have been looking at replacing my Honda with an MG5. EV.

They seem to be considered good value.

Last week I had a 5 mile ride in a ZS used as a as taxi, the car interior was very acceptable in fit and finish and the car was  pleasant on the move, the driver quoted the range as 200 miles but 180 with limited use of  heating , his running costs were £10 a day in electricity using an overnight charger installed at his home,  compared to £30 a day in his diesel car.
I think he quoted a price of £25000 new and had no  faults in service. The petrol engined MG undercuts many other cars in price, not only the ZS  electric.  My neighbour has an HS petrol on order, the waiting list in very long, ordered mid 2021, delivery is stated as February 2022
