there was hardly any dust build up, but the new fan doesn't seem to displace much air when they test it. This seems to be the culprit (lack of cooling), but the reason why is unclear. It's making the RPM's. It's a honda original fan. The connector can go in only one way.

Frustrating...

a question for the guys who replaced the fan or repaired and placed it back:

Is there any way to fit the fan wrongly? From watching the vid in previous post it seems it can go in only one way. I'm puzzled as to why a new fan has gone in, battery pack heats up, fan goes in to max rpm mode and still doesnt displace much air.

Seems like reverse rotation however if it goes in one way only and the plug can go in one way only, this could not be possible.

Any thoughts are welcome, I'm lost and need to wait 2 weeks since the hybrid expert at honda is on holiday. They say they get readings of 90degC on the battery pack so it worries me a bit, may get rapid degradation on the hybrid batt.

Thanks @madasafish, the video helped a lot. Opened the system today and found the cause!

The garage put in a wrong fan! The blades are oriented in the wrong direction.... See the attached pic

Edit: Also Honda confirmed. Apparently they mounted a CRZ fan which has the exact same shape, mounting plate and electric connector plug.

Hope this helps someone someday

Had a similar problem with my 2011 ima jazz when I fitted second hand fan unit turns out the insight fan and the jazz one will not interchange after a short run fan on at full speed and little flow through ducts purchased new fan from. Japan less than half price of uk version all OK now 😊

Where did you purchase the fan? I’ve already replaced one of the fuses, but shortly after, another one blew. I replaced that as well, but I’m concerned this might keep happening. I don’t want to risk breaking down in the middle of the road, so I think it’s best to buy a new fan.
Thanks.

I am unsure of the total cost after accounting for taxes, VAT, shipping fees, and other potential charges.
They’ve mentioned that there are no returns or refunds. Thanks anyway! I’ll wait to see if anyone else has other suggestions; if not, I’ll go ahead and order it from there.
