Honda Jazz Mk3 2015 - 2020 / Re: Buying ine tomorrow possibly A few questions
« Last post by embee on December 02, 2024, 05:36:52 PM »I'm always interested in these sort of questions.
The Jazz is what it is, a 1.3L medium sized everyday hatchback. If what you want is a car which can accelerate briskly at 60 or 70mph in top gear then it's probably not for you.
It has enough power available to perform perfectly acceptably in most traffic circumstances if you are prepared to use the transmission appropriately. Selecting "S" will hold it in lower ratios and allow quite reasonable performance. Alternatively put it in S and then use the paddles to put it in the ratio you want. Those functions are there for you to use if D isn't doing what you want.
Personally I'm happy with the performance it will bowl along at 70mph all day if you wish though I find 65mph gives noticeably better fuel economy if that's important. In D that's typically a shade over 2000rpm so don't expect instant response, you need more rpm to get it to accelerate sharply.
D is really offering best economy compromise, but you can make it do otherwise at the flick of a switch.
Ultimately if it's not acceptable to you then there are plenty of cars which will do it, probably in the 2.0L category.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Looking Again At The Jazz 2023
« Last post by Jazzik on December 02, 2024, 05:03:20 PM »..or just use the hand brake, which is how we were all taught.
That's what I was also taught, back in 1966. Driving lessons in a Volkswagen Beetle...
At the time, brake hold, like many other 'modern' things, was still something like science fiction.
And as for dazzling: I always use brake hold here when in city traffic and there are always other road users around me. They also use brake hold or have their right foot on the brake pedal. During the day I have never had any problems with blinding brake lights.
When it is dark, all those other road users have their lights on and there are street lights, billboards, etc. That provides so much "background light" that I am really not bothered by brake lights in front of me. I suspect the same goes for the driver waiting behind me. I have never had a (light or sound) signal from the person behind me.

However if I know I’m going to be stopped for a while then I’ll just put her in P and wait
..or just use the hand brake, which is how we were all taught. The beauty of the Jazz hand brake, you don't have to release it when moving off.

"Are you sure you couldn’t find a better price on a Comparison Website? NFU are an excellent insurance company but are well known as being one of the most expensive to insure with. I have frequently got quotes from them (78 years old) but their quote is always significantly (£100’s) higher than competitive quotes from LV etc".
I didn't mention insurance apart from the fact nobody was interested in my IAM.
I tried NFU and they were a complete joke Their claim to be the best thought of Insurance company is either a lie or their customers have more money than sense!
I also find LV, whose head office is only a mile from me (not that that makes any difference! ) is ridiculously expensive. My youngest son (51) finds they are the cheapest for him.
I was insured by Aviva for may years. Shareholder and 9/10 on their good driving app, full NCB, discount for house and car and at the last renewal the premium jumped from £385 to £550.
I hunted around on compare.com and am now happily insured with TESCO BANK for my FULLY ELECTRIC eNiro for £385 )& I'm 79 next January- Max NCB, clean licence, blah, blah, blah)and house is cheaper than Aviva , who in-spite of all the above, flatly refused to do me any favours in spite of my years of loyalty to them So **** them I thought!.

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015 - 2020 / Re: Rain Sensor
« Last post by ColinB on December 02, 2024, 02:35:32 PM »Didn't think it had rain sensor.
Mine just has intermittent wiper speeds. Which you twist the stick and it sets different intervals if you do the one up as explained above it just stops when you stop at traffic lights etc.
I have kept the brochure from when I bought my car in 2015, and according to that all trim levels have "rain sensitive auto wipers". I doubt they would have removed that for later cars, so if yours aren't working then you also might have a fault.
Edit: just noticed your profile says you have a GD1 Jazz, which (I think) is a Mk1. If so, I'm not surprised you don't have rain-sensitive wipers!

« Last post by bamboo on December 02, 2024, 02:16:05 PM »Pulled out of the test drive this morning as my wife couldn't make it. She isn't mad about it's looks though i quite like it. Still concerned about motorway driving and always found our auto HRV struggled a bit. When you have a Mercedez SLK (old but reliable) and enjoy the ease it eats up the miles the Jazz is a bit daunting. But we will still probably give it a test and will report my thoughts after. Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.

« Last post by Stephen 2019 Jazz on December 02, 2024, 01:24:32 PM »Thanks everyone for your replies. Much appreciated. Yes - it is rain-sensing auto-wipers and I have definitely played with the various settings. The garage agreed it was not working, but as Colin says - I think they are perhaps 'mistaken'. I have called Honda in Leatherhead and they agreed that the rain sensor is not linked ot the radar, so hopefully a fix of less than £2000 will be possible!
