Title: *Opens Door into Jazz Club*
Post by: guest7502 on February 19, 2018, 09:23:32 AM
Hey Guys (lovely music) ; )

I am looking to buy a Honda Jazz. My Mk1 Skoda is 17 years old now and the head gasket blew over the weekend.

I wanted to get some insider knowledge. Also - do people sell their old Jazzi on here?

Last question, what's the plural of Jazz?

Welcome. You might be lucky, but more chance with Auto Trader and the like. According the the dictionary the plural of Jazz is Jazz!  :D

Reminds me of that sketch on the Fast Show -

"Hi and welcome to Jazz Club - Nice!"

PS - picking up Jazz number 3 on Wednesday. They must be doing something right!

Jazz number three! Do you own more than one? Or have you been buying them for some time?

I want a 1.4 in Black! I'm not usually fussy with colour but the Jazz, like myself, looks better in the dark!

Hi badgerdisco

I buy the family cars, I have two boys. One does loads of miles so after buying also sorts he now has a 1.2 i-vtec Jazz. Younger son has a 1.3 CVT i-vtec Jazz as his wife can only drive automatic and of course I have a 1.2 i-vtec with 75,000 miles on it. However far and with what little regard to the engine by eldest son it still keeps on going and doesn't use oil etc. I change the oil, filters and the brakes and little else with no trouble whatsoever. I can't recommend them highly enough. Oh yes :) my wife has a Suzuki Splash but there is another story :)

Ah I badly want one! I can't find anything decent for around £2-3k at the moment. Annoyingly, about two weeks ago I helped a friend buy a Jazz and it was immaculate. My Fabia had just passed her MOT so I wasn't in the market!

Thanks, it sounds like a smart buy to be honest - my friend had a suzuki swift. It wasn't reliable and he had a lot of trouble getting parts for it. Lots of quirky problems that were hard to solve!

I've had a couple of Ford Focuses and they're pretty hardy, but I quite fancy trying something even more practical and with slightly better build.

No - I only have one at a time. Jazzes 1 and 2 were/are Mk2 1.4 EXs. I had Jazz 1 for 3 years and it went in part ex for Jazz 2 (my current car). I've only had this one for just over 2 years and was intending to keep for another 2 but various bits of my ageing body are crying out for an automatic hence Jazz 3 arrives on Wednesday.

Gone down a spec from EX to SE. Hope I don't regret it - the main difference seems to be I will now be back with manual air con. I've decided I can live with this.

Hey @badgerdisco, you broke the first rule of Jazz Club...

(...and the second as well by the way!).

@peteo48 manual air conditioning shouldn't cause too many problems! YI think a 1.4 Mk2 EX would be my ideal choice. But I probably can't afford to be too fussy.

Hey @richardfrost - haha! Please, I want to know what they were..? :D Mentioning Ford?

I'd bite your hand off for manual air conditioning.

The first rule of Jazz Club is - you don't talk about Jazz Club.

The second rule of Jazz Club is - you DON'T talk about Jazz CLub.

LOL

I was just thinking - it's like one of those "first world problems" - "Oh poor me, I haven't got climate control on my new car, it's not fair!!"

Your best bet is to drive one at a local traders , then search Autotrader or if you want your local BCA .
There are 100's around and as ever condition is the key + MOT history check + invoices for work done.
Happy hunting, but do drive a few before you spend

Good advice, I've never driven one so that's a good idea! My friend has one so I will ask him if I can have a spin in his (I actually helped him buy it a few weeks ago. DOH!)

Whereabouts are you in the UK? I might be selling mine soon. Very reliable indeed but there is a little rust showing through and the alloys need some attention. Might be too cheap for you anyway as it's probably worth well under a grand by now.

I'm based in Cambridge. I'm not ruling anything out - my last car was a £500 Fabia : )
