[GD] Super bright Boot Light [20 mins mod]
« on: October 19, 2015, 12:45:31 AM »
Hi All, my first post  :)

Today I put a super bright COB LED strip in my Honda Jazz GD boot. Got that ideal from http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-interior-exterior-illumination/90453-putting-led-s-cargo-area.html. But I used a 12V 4W super bright COB LED strip instead, the result is amazingly useful boot light.

Cost = 99p COB LED + led connector female & male Plug (99p for 5) + a bit of cable = £1.20  ;D

First solder a long length of  twin cable to the LED strip then solder half of the LED connector at the end, then tap it under the boot cover

Close up pic at the end

Then prepare the other half of the connector

Close up pic at the other end cable with a spare 501 led plastic holder

Insert it though the boot side plastic trim (unscrew 2 screws)

Catch the other end though the original boot light hole, then plug in the led holder end to the boot light holder. Plug the socket back to the boot light holder.

At the end only small piece cable exposes above the boot cover,  no cutting of factory parts. Also can remove the boot cover anytime.

Final result  :o

I have taken your idea and run with it.  I used the same LED strips as Wesley, and the plug/socket was from AliExpress. Cable, Ties and DuckTape was from my stock of bits and bobs. Total cost under a fiver. I put the label on the shelf to remind myself and warn others. I don't want all my hard work ripped out.

Sorry to be a DUNCE but how do you deal with Ali Express, whenever I look at their site it doesn't make it clear how one deals from the UK
As I said I am a bit of a Dunce in these matter.

I have never had a problem. Just register on the site, change the currency to £ and off you go.

Love this idea and i sure can use some more light in the back. Only i removed the boot cover because we have fold down one of the rear seats for a doggy crate. The original boot light is not more than a candle light... ;)
