Carplan Glass Cleaner - Recommended product.
« on: May 18, 2021, 11:06:44 AM »
I cleaned the inside of all the glass of my Jazz yesterday. What a difference it has made. Steaming up reduced, and much clearer vision. One of the jobs we all forget about and you don't notice the gradual build up of grime.

I used Carplan Glass Cleaner. Brilliant stuff and at a great price too.

It's only the second time I've cleaned the windows in 10 months, and the result using Carplan was brilliant. Give it a go and see what you think.  :D

Over the years I've tried all manner of glass cleaners and the big problem is that a lot of them leave some residue behind.

On the swept glass this causes wiper blade streaking and also some minor streaking on side windows when you lower and raise them.

For many years now I've used 'Invisible Glass' because it evaporates during use and leaves the glass squeaky clean and no wiper blade marks.
Let's be careful out there !

This is the one I use.

First bought it in September 2016 and I am currently on my third bottle. Quick Glass has been awarded 'best glass cleaner' by Auto Express for several years.

I found premixed liquid sugar soap will get absolutely anything off the screen from wax to tree sap to squashed bugs,  and the wipers just purr after......

The outside of the windows get cleaned after every wash, but I never seem to get round to doing the inside. Makes such a difference.

I give the Carplan stuff a nod because it is at a bargain basement price but delivers good results.

The problem with so many products on the market, is finding good stuff. I've bought the odd expensive product in the past, only to be disappointed. Interesting to read your suggestions.  :D

For the outside glass, especially windscreen,   https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/cleaners-and-wipes/4trade-sugar-soap-solution-500ml/p/844597

Went into Travis Perkins for some CT-1 sealant and saw it, thought I would use it on shower screen, worked so well I tried it on windscreen of car, used one of those washing up sponges ( the white non-abrasive ones not the green or brown type which can scratch steel ). Scrub on with damp spongy thingy,  it makes a foam, leave foam for 5 minutes and wash off with watering can or hose.   Decorators use sugar soap to clean down older paintwork before repainting, gets all the old Mr Sheen wax and nicotine stains off..

I've tried the same technique with the sugar soap but not with the same success. Must be the sugar soap I used. Just Tesco's.

I always neglect to clean the inside of the windscreen and windows so I’ll try to get hold of some of this as it’s quite cheap and I’m a tight Yorkshireman.

Westy36 - carplan don’t pay you to advertise for them on here do they?!   :D

:D You'd think so! No, like you, Im not one for spending unnecessarily. I find that Carplan stuff hits the right spot, being effective and cost effective in equal measure. Pay any less, and it is often not worth the money, false economy.
