Night/Day Mode not automatically changing

I have a new Jazz EX-T and the audio/satnav screen is supposed to change automatically from day to night mode when the lights are off/on (P42 of SD Navigation System manual). 

This doesn't happen, I have to manually change the display.  It makes no difference whether the lights are Off or On or Auto.

How can I setup the screen for automatic brightness?

Try changing the 'lighting control' to 'off.'
