Hello from a potential Jazz purchaser.
« on: March 06, 2021, 01:35:52 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a Mk2 Jazz for Mrs W to replace her beloved (but so small) 2004 smart cabrio.

I've been looking round the various sites for info as I knew nothing about the Jazz until last week.

Having found this forum, I think you will have all the info (and probably more) that I'm likely to need.

Thanks for accepting me.

Cheers

Dave

Welcome.

I have one. Pretty well bullet proof if maintained.

Welcome. I have a Mk 1, which is months away from 15 years old, has done 135,000 miles, does 12,000 miles a year and returns an average of 55 mpg. I cannot praise the Jazz enough. Bulletproof? Think bombproof.

Welcome to the forum.  :D

We've had our Jazz for 9 months now and about 8000 miles. Hasn't missed a beat, loads of mpg and a great little car. I was Jazz sceptic, but now a full Jazz convert.  Brilliant cars.

So what sort of budget do you have? Are you looking for manual or auto?

I have a December 2015 (65 reg) Jazz Hybrid for sale, high mileage at 134000 miles but full Honda Service History, very good condition. Located between Peterborough and Spalding, looking for near £6000, but open to offers.

I'm not quite ready to buy as we are in Spain (winter "Swallows") and will have 2 weeks self-isolation to endure from 1 April when we return.

We won't do high mileage, so I'm not looking for a Hybrid, but I am looking for Auto (CVT)

I want the Pan roof and paddles and would like leather, so I am thinking of a 2012 - 2014 1.4 exl but have reservations about the 16" wheels and the ride quality. (Then again, after the Smart, it's probably not a real concern...)

Budget is flexible, I'd rather pay more for the right car, than save now and regret later - I could go to £7999 for the right spec and FSH with less than 50k miles.

Cheers

Dave

Your best bet try a search Inc your options on Autotrader, from memory the swheel paddles were just march 2011 to end 2012.
There are more tyre for the 16 alloys these days.
Condition is the key plus search service history/paperwork. Always get HPI Experian check before parting with your cash. Good luck.

Also, the Smartphone app 'Vehicle Smart' has a good history check.
Let's be careful out there !

IIRC paddles were dropped for model year 2015 cars. I have them on a 2014 car.

Just curious
What are IIRC paddles used for.
Just acquired my first Honda Jazz yesterday so not up to speed yet.

IIRC stands for If I Remember Correctly. The paddles are levers behind the steering wheel to change gear like a Formula One car or a super sports car.

My 19 plate EX still has the paddles to change gear, in my case with the CVT, to change the ‘simulated’ gears.
One of my regular trips has a 1 in 6 hill and the paddles are particularly useful, dropping down 2 or 3 steps to provide engine braking. The revs rise to around 3500, but hold the car back well.

Can anyone tell me what the ‘engine braking’ is like on the Mk4 Jazz / Crosstar  in ‘B’ mode, on a similar hill, do you need to apply the brakes as well?
