Title: OBD2 CODE 22 - Excessive change of the vehicle speed Sensor signal
Post by: onurm on June 06, 2020, 01:58:40 PM
Hi there,
I own a 2005 Honda Jazz 1.4 SE Sport.

I have been receiving a jerking effect with my car which happens sometimes when at higher and at lower speeds. I had the EGR valve cleaned and spark plugs changed which made no difference.

What I noticed is that when I put my foot all the way down on the accelerator, when my car reaches 45mph-50mph, it doesn't push any further (makes a hissing type noise) until I release my foot off the accelerator and slowly increase to that speed at a lower RPM. At that high speed, when I release my foot off the accelerator I can hearing a whistling type noise.

I got the car scanned and the error code 22 came up about the vehicle speed sensor. I am not sure whether the problem just lies in this which causes the jerking and me to not accelerate at high RPM, with wiring of this sensor or there is a problem with my gearbox.

On MK1 models there is a green and yellow wire in the loom that can get broken,  this controls throttle and gives symptoms you report.

IIRC electric control of throttle was introduced around 2004,  you can soon tell if electric wires going to throttle body instead of older mechanical cable.

When you changed the plugs did you change all eight?

Yeah, I got all 8 of them changed and the EGR valve cleaned which I thought was a common problem in the Jazz's. However, it didn't make a difference

I will have to get that checked, however will it not throw the throttle body codes when scanned? Everything was clear apart from the speed sensor code popping up and I'm not sure if that will cause what I am experiencing
