Change from jazz to crv
« on: May 07, 2019, 11:05:37 AM »
Hi,
I am on my second jazz, a 2011 cvt and I really like it but it is just not big enough for when we go camping. I have a roofbox which helps but cannot have a trailer due to the cvt transmission. I am seriously considering a crv, diesel for the economy and auto if possible. They are plentiful on ebay around 2006 to 2008 quite cheaply. Is there anything I need to look out for, what is the difference in fuel consumption between diesel and petrol, I don't do a lot of milage these days, any advice welcomed. Daft as it may seem I prefer the look of the older models to the modern bulbous shape,
Chris

I've had a few CRVs and I swear there is little more room than the Jazz, and perhaps actually LESS practical space due to the way the seats fold. You should goo see one in the flesh somewhere if you can.

Never owned a CR-V but considered one and came to that very same conclusion. We don't always agree on everything but I am with you on this one. Probably because the facts speak for themselves! The Jazz is truly hard to beat on many counts.

We don't always agree on everything
Would make for a boring conversation if we did.

Absolutely. Adversity is our greatest ally.

I understand that Honda say you should not tow with a CVT gearbox.
Yes, I probably agree that towing a large caravan is a bit over the top, (one has to consider the weight restrictions etc) but I would have thought that a small camping trailer would be no trouble at all.
Certainly if I needed to tow such a trailer, then I would see no problem.

Perhaps look at the HR-V? It offers more internal space than the Jazz and a modest towing capability if needed. However, nowhere as cheap as a 10 year old CR-V (and avoid any 2015/65 reg HR-V as they have the most bugs).
