Considering a Jazz hybrid but worried about Carplay issues
« on: February 25, 2024, 10:11:12 PM »
Hi all,

I'm considering a Honda Jazz i-mmd hybrid (2020 onward) and am a heavy user of Google Maps and Waze. I have read a few posts regarding Carplay connection issues and also issues with lag while using Google Maps/Waze.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is it easily rectifiable? I hope this isn't going to be a long term problem as I intend to keep this car for over 4 years.

Cheers

FYI :

I can't comment on Carplay but my Android phone (Samsung S23+) works with 100% reliability and almost instant connection since I switched from wireless to wired

This is using Android Auto Google Maps in satellite view

Let's be careful out there !

My iPhone connects wirelessly and works like a charm! Some issues I read here have to do with very specific phones or software versions. In general it seems quite good!

In my 2 1/2 years of my mk 4 jazz my I phone connects easily and plays Spotify within seconds of powering up .Waze works  just as easily . Most times that’s without the cable connection , which I only plug in to charge my phone . I don’t have the Honda app so can only comment on my experience and use .

iPhone 12 mini, heavy lag while using google maps/waze/herewego. Fine while using Apple Maps.

I have the same phone as bearer in the above post and the same problem with google maps so use Apple Maps instead, so as mentioned previously it could depend on which phone and software you have.

I was chatting to my daughter about this. She has Apple Car Play on her Toyota CHR and connects with a wire like you. She says it has almost eliminated any issues she had when she used it wirelessly (it wasn't 100% reliable).

Once mine connected wirelessly it was fine

My issue was that it could take from 10 secs to 2 mins, then sometimes fail so I had to unpair and re-pair or reboot the phone, which was a pain when you just wanted to drive

Since using the wire AA boots up and connects before the Start, Settings nag screen
Let's be careful out there !

...It's a shame that Honda can't fix it for the Jazz as they have done for the HR-V  :(  ???
AA works wirelessly every time.

Surely they can't be that different systems?

Surely they won't be that different systems. But of course the users' phones can be different...

Samsung phone on wired Android, never had a problem. I always used a short cable because the phone only gets charged in the car and needs no other charging.

Thanks for all the replies! I’m likely not getting one till next year but I’ll keep this all in mind. I’m also waiting for interest rates to ease a bit (if they do) and the used prices to come down, hopefully when new registrations are out.

Cheers again!

... No as my phone is the common denominator.
