Honda Garmin paid for updates
« on: December 17, 2023, 05:01:49 PM »
I guess a lot of Mk.3 Navi cars have finished their 5 years of free map updates.

Has anyone paid for an update yet ? If so how much did it cost and is the installation the same except for the payment to Garmin prior to the download.

Probably won't bother if its too expensive been using Google maps on the phone more lately anyway.

In november 2022 I've paid  about 25€ for an one year update. Now I'm waiting for the EU NT2024 update.

25 Euros is good value. In the UK my dealer wants £140 which is about 155 Euros?

You might want to draw your dealer's attention to Honda's Fixed Price Repair list ...
https://www.honda.co.uk/content/dam/local/uk/cars/owners/2023-nrrp-price-tables-pdf/NRRP%2001%20Oct%202023.pdf
... which says £45 (in the small print right at the bottom). Still more expensive than Europe though.

22,33€ the exact price, I've found the receipt. Online shop, then standard diy update procedure.

Some dealers don't understand their products

That £170 quote is probably for the older Alpine units that needed a bespoke DVD coded just for your VIN no from NavTeq

The later Garmin units are just a simple online download
Let's be careful out there !

Can I make a comment about Garmin's voice over versus the Tom Tom voice over?

TomTom sounds more natural with full sentences, while Garmin is more of a sum up list of words.

Software and voices of this Garmin are the same of my old standalone Garmin Navi, bought in 2006, 79,99€.
This means that in 2017 I've bought moreorless the same device but built in the car, for 700€.
Nice... >:(
