Trying to figure out which model I have
« on: May 14, 2022, 07:12:42 PM »
Hello!

I am a new owner of a 2005 Honda Jazz, which I find pretty nice.

Unfortunately I'm at a bit of a loss with exactly which model I have. On the tag plate it says GD1, but when I google for "Honda Jazz GD1" I get results with similar models, but different interior, and I'm not sure how to find mine.

The VIN is JHMGD17505S200001 - I've replaced few numbers with zeroes in the tail part. The engine is L13A1, transmission is a five gear manual. On the engine hood I have i-DSI labeling.

From what I've gathered through the VIN it's a Japanese made car, produced in 2005.

My main issue is that when I search I usually find cars with three knobs on the center console, while mine is with the two joysticks (for AC control).

At the moment I'm mostly interested in replacing the rear view mirror, and finding out if I can access the CAN bus of the car, so I can get more information than it's usually accessible through the OBD port.

If you can point me to a proper search term I'll be very thankful!

I don't know if you'll gain anything more from these sites than you already know but I hope they help.

https://www.parkers.co.uk/honda/jazz/hatchback-2002/specs/

Edit added second link
2nd edit changed Parker's link to 2002---> model (I was looking at specs for my car and must have added wrong link for yours)

Take a picture of your interior radio. The older ones had a different setup.

GD1 is the chassis code for all Japanese made European spec models with the 1.4-litre engine.

In the UK the 1.4-litre engine for 2005 came in either SE or Sport trims. As you have climate control it sounds like you have the equivalent of the Sport trim offered in the UK. Other trim levels with manual or no A/C have the three rotary controls.

As you are in the Czech Republic the trim levels offered might be labelled differently or may even be specced completely differently.

Hi all!

So, the dash is like the one that @JimSh had posted.

From what I've managed to gather the SE fits most - I have all SE standard equipment, apart from the rear electric windows. I also have the side airbags and steel wheels from the SE optional equipment.

The car is imported from Germany, but I don't see a reason to have differences between trims in countries on the continent.

Anyways, most of my searches with "SE" have been fruitful, so I guess we can leave it at that.

Thanks to all for the help!

Entering the vin on parts websites can help.
