Have you found the button?
« on: January 09, 2016, 05:15:53 PM »
I always thought the head restraints on the front seats were pitched to far forward.
I found by pure luck a button on the left hand side of both front head restraints, press it in and you can alter the rake of the restraints.
So much better.
Hope this helps other mk3 owners.
Keep enjoying your new cars.

I have made good use of that button. I recall that the button is mentioned somewhere in the 600 page tome. It definitely improves the comfort of the front seats.

Perhaps another reason for people to upgrade from the Mk 2? Or maybe the head rests are interchangeable in which case Mk 2 owners will soon be out hunting for Mk 3 head rests.

I'm guessing the headrest angle is connected somehow to the seat belt pre-tensioners (or by momentum), so they will angle forward and help prevent whiplash.
On the crashed Mk3 the headrests seem very forward, or is that normal?

That was how my mk3 was delivered.

Perhaps the occupants had yet to find the magic button?

The headrest tilt uses a ratchet mechanism so they can be tilted forward without pressing the button.
