Rapid ticking (also after engine off)
« on: June 12, 2023, 08:59:08 AM »
Hi there

Mid way back from a short-ish journey noticed a rapid ticking sound, bit like a old clock, 6-8 ticks per second.

When I had the opportunity I turned the car off however it remained (at least 2 minutes) - I lifted the bonnet but was not clear where it was coming from, somewhere between the dash and nearest part of engine bay.

It wasn’t getting any slower or faster, and eventually had stopped when I checked the car later.

Was not a loud rattle (didn’t seem to be engine related) could it be something to with the AC given how humid it currently is (south UK)?

I think the technology does lots of things we are not used to in more conventional cars .? I used to wonder what could be making a particular sound but these days I just enjoy the drive! I hope both Honda and Toyota continue to produce true hybrids for many years to come and develop them further. In reality because the hybrid can be silent at lots of times you hear more things more often that are hidden by a petrol / diesel engine.
