The VW Tiguan wife has doesn't have a chain, or an EA189 engine. It does have DSG though!
Isn't the DSG an improved beast now?
You don't seem to hear so many of the horror stories that were common when the DSG gearbox first appeared. I assumed they had gotten topside of the problems.
To be honest I don't know much about their history - had never even driven one before we got the car. Ours works absolutely fine - no start delays etc, but I've read they do vary.
There are wet and dry clutch versions, and I think the dry ones were more iffy. Ours is wet.
