There will be a reason.

Two drive cycles fault free will clear the warning lamp so there is hope, also your airbag(s) should have been replaced at a recall some time ago - you can check if the airbag recall is outstanding here: http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/owners/recalls-and-updates.html
It requires a more specialist diagnostic reader than the cheap ELM327 ones some users have to read read the airbag fault code, but that should pinpoint the issue.  As this is now an MOT failure item, best seek professional advice sooner rather than later.

Just ran my VIN through Honda site and the airbags are to be replaced, along with light switch and electric window switch. I contacted my local main dealer (Western Honda, Halbeath), and they will order parts and, as soon as they are available, arrange to have the work done free of charge, despite the car being almost eleven years old.

Jocko, these are all recalls, some a few years old and should be free of charge. The window switch assembly has been changed twice.

From what I understand any recalls that have not been cleared on the system are done free of charge whatever the age. Mine was done by the main dealer a year ago when sold to me and that was on an 08 plate.

Honda dealers will (should) check to see for any outstanding recalls when cars come in.

In case the OP or anyone else is wondering, the airbag light illuminating is highly unlikely to have anything to do with the airbag recall.

my airbag light came on because my dog ate the airbag wiring loom under the passenger seat. Im amazed honda leave such thin wires dangling about under a seat.  THey are in a prime place to get ripped off if you slide something under the seat.

or have an idiot of a dog

Honda issued an airbag replacement bulletin in 2017.  I had it done in Sep 2018 since the local dealer said they could not get stock

On the way back home, the airbag light came on and off 3 times.  The agent said it would rectify.  It did not.  Since then I phoned them a few times, but got excuses

After a big complaint, the car was checked (Jan this year).  I am told that a computer needs replacing at huge cost

I did not do anything due to our lockdown

Are there any tips or instructions for switching off the airbag light, since I cannot afford a new computer?   Income dropped by 70% during lockdown
