Good independent garage
« on: May 13, 2019, 09:30:19 AM »
Anyone know of one in the Bradford/Keighley area?

Ideally I want something like A6 Autos in Stockport by my brother's. Just behind the Honda main dealer they know Jazzes inside out.

Found one through the dog walker grapevine. Contact me if you want to know.

Hope it works out well.

Good independents are often difficult to find. A few years ago I was recommended one but they told me, incorrectly, that I needed new pads and discs. Shysters are endemic in the car trade from main dealers, through chains like Kwik Fit and even small garages.

It's easier with some makes than others. There's quite a network of non dealer independents for German cars but I haven't seen any independent Honda specialists in my area.

It's why I stick, a bit reluctantly, with main dealers.

Honda's are too reliable to provide a decent income for a Honda independent.Same probably applies to most Japanese cars.

Doesn't just do Hondas. Though I did ask one of the people who recommend them because he has a Mk1 Jazz like mine.

One reason I was happy was they said something I asked for didn't need doing.

The main job was replacing the drop links on the front anti-roll-bar. What a difference that's made. Not only have the clunks at low speed gone it's much quieter on the motorway too.

It's sometimes worth driving some distance to get a good independent. I have a service plan on this car so won't need anything until 2022 but I'd drive up to 100 miles to get reliable and honest service.
