I've just come across a mention of Honda using soy in their wiring looms to make them more eco-friendly. Unfortunately, rodents welcome this. Here's one discussion on the subject https://www.hondacivicforum.co.uk/threads/rats-chewed-thru-my-electrical-looms.86427/. The www has more.

Thanks ! Im still waiting the loom to arrive from japan … yes honda do have the rodent proof tape listed as an offical part number ….. £73 for a 20m roll.. I’ m in two minds to buy some and wrap the new loom before its replaced …. Of course it would be if the new loom arrived wrapped with it to start with ….

Was discussing this with a friend the other night, who has an old Rover 75 and a Honda Civic. I told him about the soy issue and he said bizarrely it is all over the Rover owners  forum about rodents eating through wiring harnesses, all of a sudden, so it affecting them as well. I don’t think soy is involved though !
