Stuck headlight reflector
« on: March 17, 2024, 08:12:56 PM »
Hi all,

I have a 2011 Mk2 Jazz with a headlight I am unable to adjust. The moving part of the reflector is stuck pointing too far down, and I’m unable to free it.

This is unrelated to the motorised adjuster. If I remove that and the bulb, the reflector doesn’t move forward and back freely as it should, only with a tiny bit of movement.

I’ve tried various things to attempt to pull it back into position - using my fingers through the bulb hole to try to get purchase, as well as slipping things underneath to try to force it upwards. I’ve used quite a lot of force but no sign of it moving at all.

Has anyone come across this before? I’ve no idea what caused it; the adjuster motor on the other headlight failed recently due to water ingress, so I have been moving them up and down quite a bit from the driver’s seat. But that’s just ‘normal’ operation, nothing that should have caused damage. I assume the easiest option now is just to replace the whole unit.
