Title: Extended running of starter motor
Post by: Jam80s on January 22, 2020, 06:48:41 PM
We have a 2019 Jazz SE Navi, which has issue which happens occasionally, once the starter button has been pressed the starter usually takes a couple of turns to start the engine ( 1 or 2 seconds) but every now and again the starter runs for 5 to 6 seconds, has anyone had this problem?

i get it now and again and now i just turn the key till the lights come on and then wait a couple of seconds before starting and now i dont have it happening

might be something to do with being a stop/start car or something like that

I always wait on cars until things have settled after turning ignition on, normally until fuel gauge has reached position ( even do this on my motorbike which has a 'one touch' start where you just momentarily press starter button and it turns over until engine starts, subject to about a 5 second max time ) - it just seems like good practice to me....  ECU has to be happy with all sensors etc before allowing engine to start...
